That is pretty common around here. It is not included but it is not so expensive. So, you\u2019ll pay it only if you eat. You must try these appetizers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the pataniscas de bacalhau and the&nbsp;<strong>past\u00e9is de bacalhau<\/strong>&nbsp;(with mashed potatoes,&nbsp;parsley and shredded codfish)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2013 cheeses and smoked sausages\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas27.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-376\" title=\"dicas27\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u2026such as the butter sheep cheese from Azeit\u00e3o and the roasted smoked sausage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013&nbsp;<strong>caldo verde,&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;the Portuguese national soup made with mashed potatoes and onions and thinly cut green cabbage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if you are a fish and seafood lover you came to the right place because we are the country in Europe that eats more fish and prices are quite nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The codfish can be prepared in 365 different ways and it is normally considered the most Portuguese dish of all dishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, why not tasting it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas28.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas28\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 The&nbsp;<strong>Bacalhau \u00e0 Br\u00e1s (Br\u00e1s Codfish),&nbsp;<\/strong>made with shredded codfish, eggs, thin french fries, olives and parsley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the Bacalhau com natas (Codfish with cream)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the&nbsp;<strong>Bacalhau no forno (Codfish in the oven)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas29.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas29\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Any grilled fish will taste great specially if you are sure that it is really fresh. Sometimes the waitress shows you the fish before it is prepared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2013 the sardinhas assadas (grilled sardines)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas30.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas30\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you like seafood, get ready to see the lobsters in the aquarium and get ready to taste:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2013 the arroz de marisco (seafood rice)<\/strong>, prepared in the water where the seafood was boiled, it has tomato and aromatic herbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas31.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas31\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013&nbsp;<strong>the cataplana de marisco (seafood cataplana): it is 2 half moon copper pots&nbsp;<\/strong>where a stew in prepared with different fish and seafood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas32.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas32\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the a\u00e7orda de marisco: it is made with wheat bread mixed with seafood water and some aromatic herbs and garlic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you prefer meat, taste:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the&nbsp;<strong>carne de porco \u00e0 alentejana<\/strong>, which are cubes of pork meat seasoned with paprika and fried clams with coriander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas33.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas33\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the&nbsp;<strong>cozido \u00e0 Portuguesa<\/strong>, composed by a great variety of boiled meats, rice, potatoes, beans and vegetables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas34.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas34\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the feijoada (bean stew with different pork meats)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 the vitela estufada (stewed veal)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Summer time it is quite common to see Portuguese people in the esplanades having a fresh beer (<strong>cerveja fresca)<\/strong>&nbsp;either a Super Bock or a Sagres whilst they are eating&nbsp;<strong>carac\u00f3is estufados (stewed snails)<\/strong>. Dare to taste them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas35.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas35\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas36.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas36\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Portuguese people are also very gourmand. So, you\u2019ll find many yummy deserts made with eggs, sugar and nuts. Some of those are convent sweets, that means the nuns invented them. Maybe that is the origin of the most famous gastronomical wonder of Portugal and also the most wanted cake in Lisbon \u2013 &nbsp;<strong>Pastel de Bel\u00e9m<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 and to taste it you must go to the pastry shop that holds the secret of the recipe not to be revealed since 1837.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Portugal is a great producer of wine, there is a great variety of white, red and ros\u00e9 wines. You must taste the Alentejo, Douro and D\u00e3o region wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas37.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\">&nbsp;Have you heard about<strong>&nbsp;vinho verde (green wine)<\/strong>? It is a young and naturally fresh wine with a lower percentage of alcohol (between 9 and 11%). The white version is light, slightly sparkling, fruity and a bit acid, very much appreciated in warm days along with a seafood or a fish dish. Despite the name of this wine there is also a red version. Taste Alvarinho!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lisbonsecrets.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/dicas38.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"dicas38\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>O vinho do Porto (Port wine)<\/strong>, produced in the north of the country in the Douro river valley is the most well known Portuguese wine. It is a liquor wine which can be drunk fresh as an appetizer or room temperature as a desert wine. But don\u2019t be tricked by its sweetness because it has 20% of alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another liqueur wine is produced in the south of Lisbon, in the peninsula of Set\u00fabal. It is called Moscatel wine, it is strong and sweet as Port wine but it as a very unique taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t miss ginjinha either!
