If you are visiting Lisbon for a short period of time and you want to make the best out of it, this is the tour you must take because it combines the best of Lisbon and its surroundings.

We will start with the highlights of the city of Lisbon: the monastery of Saint Jerome (visit the church), the Tower of Belém and the Monument to the Discoveries (photos stops). We will also visit the city centre and admire the Marquis of Pombal Square crowning the Liberty’s Avenue, and we will do a panoramic tour to explore the narrow streets of Alfama, that contrast so deeply with the huge squares of the Downtown, like the Rossio and the Commercial Square.

Afterwards, we will continue to Sintra that, at only 20km away from Lisbon, was the summer residence of our royal family since the 14th century. Its microclimate of humidity helped to develop exuberant vegetation praised by the romantic writers of the 19th century. You will have the opportunity to visit the National Palace, a true tile museum with examples from the 15th and 16th centuries. After a stroll in the typical streets of the village of Sintra we will proceed, crossing the Mountain, until we reach Cascais. It’s a small village full of charm with beautiful aristocratic palaces along its bay, where we can still see the fishermen boats. Until the 19th century, fishing was the main activity of Cascais, being now surpassed by tourism.

It’s time to go back to Lisbon, passing by Estoril, where the biggest casino in Europe can be seen, and we’ll continue our trip along the coast until we discover together the place where the Tagus River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
